This is the feature people ask hardest about, so it is worth being direct: Faciey cannot identify a stranger who has not chosen to be findable. There is no public database behind it.
How we handle facesFrequently asked
Can it identify anyone?
No, and deliberately so. Live scan only ever surfaces people who have created a profile and switched discoverability on. Someone who has not opted in simply does not appear in the results — there is no database of the general public to search.
Can I stop myself appearing in a live scan?
Yes. You can hide from any individual scan or from all of them, and it takes effect immediately — even in a session already running. No paid plan can see past it.
Does it work offline?
No. Matching happens on the server, so live scan needs a connection. It is designed to work over normal mobile data.
Where is it actually useful?
Conferences, gigs, meetups, panels and trade stands — anywhere you meet more people in an hour than you could reasonably keep hold of.
