Faciey is a face-recognition app. People add their own face and the links they publish; anyone who sees them can scan the face and reach all of it. Nobody is in it who did not put themselves there.
How it works
What it will and will not do
The limits are the feature.
A camera that recognised strangers would be something else entirely, and not something worth building. This one can only ever surface people who asked to be surfaced.
Anyone can hide mid-session
One toggle and they vanish from a scan already running. It takes effect immediately, and a paid plan cannot see past it.
They are told it happened
Being found is not silent. Everyone who matches gets an alert saying their face appeared on a scan.
Where it earns its keep
Rooms with more people than you can hold.
Conferences, gigs, meetups, panels, market stalls. Anywhere you meet more people in an hour than you could possibly remember by the end of it.
- Cards as they arrive. You are not stopping to take photos of people.
- The session saves itself. Name it after the event and come back when you need the name.
- Rescan it later. The people who join Faciey afterwards turn up in that same old session.

What is live face recognition?
It is face matching run on the camera feed rather than on a saved photo. In Faciey, you point the phone at a room and profile cards surface as faces come into frame, instead of taking a picture and scanning it afterwards.
Can it identify strangers?
No. Faciey only matches people who switched discoverability on for themselves. Anyone who has not is invisible to a live scan, and there is no database of scraped faces behind it.
Can someone stop themselves appearing?
Yes, at any moment — including during a scan that is already running. Hiding takes effect immediately and beats a paid plan: a subscriber still sees nothing.
Is live scan available on the web?
No. Live scanning needs the camera and runs in the app on Android, with iOS in review. The web version at faciey.com/scan handles photos.
Does the person know they were scanned?
Yes. Everyone who matches gets an alert telling them their face appeared on a scan, with how close the match was.
